Quick answer

November in Brindisi is mild, wetter and quiet: expect highs around 18 °C, lows around 11 °C, sea around 17 °C and about nine rainy days, so plan for a mix of indoor and outdoor hours. It is the month of the new olive oil, of San Martino on 11 November, and the start of the Nuovo Teatro Verdi season, with shows on 12 and 17 November. Sunday 1 November (All Saints) is a public holiday and also the first Sunday of the month, when state museums are normally free: check that the Ribezzo takes part. The clocks go back on 25 October, so days are short.

What the weather is really like

The figures above come from a weather aggregator that combines several sources and about 40 years of data (see Sources), so read them as typical values, not a forecast. In practice it means a jacket in the evening, a light layer at midday and a small umbrella in the bag. Our own best time to visit guide counts November among the two wettest months, with roughly 7 to 9 rainy days.

The sea is too cool for most people to swim, but a walk on the seafront on a clear day is lovely. For the rest of the cold season see Brindisi in winter, and for wet hours our rainy day guide.

1 November: All Saints and the free museum Sunday

Sunday 1 November is Ognissanti, a national holiday in Italy. Many shops and some restaurants keep holiday hours, so do not count on everything being open and book your lunch.

It is also the first Sunday of the month. The Ministry of Culture runs "Domenica al museo", with free entry to state museums and archaeological parks on the first Sunday of every month (the programme is active in 2026). I could not confirm that the Museo Archeologico Ribezzo takes part that day, so check with the museum (0831 544257) before you plan around it. The Ribezzo is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00-19:15, and closed on Mondays; last entry is half an hour before closing.

Theatre: the Nuovo Teatro Verdi season starts

The 2026-27 season of the Nuovo Teatro Verdi is the best evening plan in November. Two dates fall in the month, both at 8:30 pm: Scandalo (written and directed by Ivan Cotroneo, with Anna Valle and Gianmarco Saurino) on Thursday 12 November, and Lettera ad Eduardo with Massimiliano Gallo on Tuesday 17 November. Marco Polo e le città invisibili with Luca Zingaretti follows on 1 December.

Single tickets cost 20 to 32 euro depending on the sector, with reductions for under 25s and over 65s, and are sold at the box office and on Vivaticket. Shows are in Italian. More in our Teatro Verdi guide.

New olive oil and the harvest season

Autumn is when the olives of the Brindisi hills are picked and pressed, and the first oil of the year, olio nuovo, appears at mills and farm shops. It is green, peppery and best on bread, soups and legumes. I do not have a published programme of mill open days for November 2026, so my advice is simple: ask a local mill or shop when they are pressing, and read our olive oil in Brindisi guide for what to look for on the label.

San Martino, 11 November

San Martino falls on Wednesday 11 November in 2026. In Puglia it is traditionally the day to open the new wine, usually with roasted chestnuts and a table of friends. I have not found a sourced public event in the province of Brindisi for this year, so think of it as a good excuse for a trattoria dinner or a bottle and chestnuts at home. For what to order, see what to eat in Brindisi.

Getting here and planning the days

Daylight lasts about ten hours, and the clocks went back on Sunday 25 October, so put museums and walks in the middle of the day and keep evenings for dinner or the theatre. The airport is 10 minutes from the centre by car: see from the airport to the city centre. If the weather turns, free things to do and day trips from Brindisi help you rearrange. If you are planning December, see the Immacolata long weekend.

Staying at BDS House in November

November is when a whole home makes sense: a living room with a sofa bed, a full kitchen for the olive oil and bread you bring back from the market, fast fibre if you work, and two private rooftop terraces for the clear hours between showers. We sleep up to 6 guests, in the historic centre at Vico D'Orimini 11. Guests who book direct find a Puglia welcome box prepared by my father (no discount on the price, just a proper welcome). Check your dates.
